Dr. Kanae Mukai, MD, FACC, ABIHM, FSCMR, is the Medical Director of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging at Ryan Ranch Center for Advanced Diagnostic Imaging and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System and a practicing cardiologist who leads imaging initiatives for structural heart interventions. She obtained her BS in chemical engineering from MIT and previously worked in the semiconductor industry in various applications engineering and product management roles at a capital equipment company supplying process control and yield management systems. She obtained her MD at Chicago Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at Mayo Clinic, fellowships in general and integrative cardiology at Scripps Clinic, and advanced imaging subspecialty fellowships at Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center and UCSF. She holds Level 3 certification and is a boarded Diplomate in MRI, CT, nuclear imaging, and echocardiography. Dr. Mukai is a member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). She is the Program Chair for the 2027 Scientific Sessions, Immediate Past Chair of the Public Relations Committee, and was the Abstract Chair for the 2026 Scientific Sessions.  Her research interests include parametric mapping, MRI with cardiac devices, 4D flow, and non-contrast vascular imaging.
