TOSHIBA PREVIEWS ADVANCED 3T MR SYSTEM AT RSNA

System Increases Diagnostic Capabilities and Produces Higher Image Resolution

CHICAGO, Nov. 25 , 2007 - Reinforcing the company's commitment to the MR marketplace, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., will preview its advanced 3T (3-Tesla) MR system as a works-in-progress at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 25 - 30, 2007 (Booth # 7130)..

At the core of Toshiba's new 3T MR product is a revolutionary new magnet design that combines a short bore with the high homogeneity that customers have come to expect from Toshiba's MR systems. In addition, the new 3T system features Toshiba's patented Pianissimo™ technology, which substantially reduces noise, solving one of the primary concerns facing 3T imaging today.

"The new 3T system emphasizes Toshiba's continued commitment to patient-centered MR technology by providing faster, more accurate scans in addition to our landmark Pianissimo technology and light, flexible coils," said Bob Giegerich, director, MR Business Unit, Toshiba. "Our new system is ideal for physicians, as it allows for greater patient throughput and imaging applications without sacrificing diagnostic confidence."

Higher spatial resolution at 3T and short acquisition times are key to faster scanning and increased diagnostic accuracy. Toshiba's 3T MR system will include whole-body imaging and be configured to more aggressively capture information not obtainable with 1.5T MR systems. With higher resolution images, the 3T MR system will make it possible to image finer anatomical structures while maintaining superior image quality.
