TOKYO, November 7, 2022—Last year, Canon Inc. acquired Redlen Technologies Inc., one of the world's leading companies in creating new technologies related to the development and manufacture of semiconductor detector modules. Canon Medical Systems Corporation, a group company of Canon Inc., has developed the first domestically produced photon-counting CT system incorporating Redlen's advanced technologies. This system has been installed at the National Cancer Center Exploratory Oncology Research & Clinical Trial Center in Japan, where it is currently used to conduct research exploring the clinical applications of PCCT.

Canon Medical Systems Corporation received a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award and Invention Achievement Award at the 2022 National Commendation for Invention hosted by Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation. The awards were given in recognition of the Signal Processing Method using Ultrasound Imaging Apparatus for Visualizing Low-speed Micro-vascular Flow. As Canon Medical received an Imperial Invention Prize last year, this is the first time the company received higher than special-level awards for two consecutive years.

Canon Medical Systems Corporation today announces that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Nordisk Røntgen Teknik A/S, a Danish company, headquartered in Aarhus, with advanced technology for the development and manufacture of diagnostic X-ray systems, with the acquisition being completed following the necessary approval procedures.
