Latest Advancements Improve Workflow, Security and Reduce Dose
RSNA Booth # 7114 (North Building, Hall B)
CHICAGO, Nov. 28, 2005 – Furthering its commitment to developing technologies that improve efficiency and enhance patient care, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. (TAMS) today unveiled new workflow, security and dose exposure enhancements to its SURE line of automated scan applications for its full line of Aquilion™ multislice computed tomography (CT) systems.
The complete line of SURE enhancements will be exhibited for healthcare professionals at the Radiological Society of North America's (RSNA) annual meeting held Nov. 27-Dec. 2 at McCormick Place in Chicago (Booth #7114, North Building, Hall B).
"As the clinical demand for multislice CT procedures increases, so does the need for workflow enhancements that optimize the use of these technologies, while ensuring patient safety and security," said Doug Ryan, director, CT Business Unit, TAMS. "We continue to identify these opportunities and work to develop technologies that increase productivity and enhance patient safety."
New SURE enhancements include:
Image Accelerate*: Doubling reconstruction speed, this works-in-progress allows reconstruction of up to 28 images per second.
Enhanced DICOM Data Transfer *: This workflow enhancement allows seamless data transfer from the Aquilion 32/64 CT systems to Vital Images workstations-dramatically improving overall efficiency.
Physician Education: A visiting fellowship program at Shands Hospital, University of Florida, which is open to cardiologists, radiologists and technicians, is designed to provide clinicians with practical experience using the latest 64-slice CT technology. A joint agreement between the University of California, Irvine, and Toshiba, has resulted in the Cardiovascular Imaging Center of Education and Research (CICER), established to educate physicians about the use of 64-slice technology.
Toshiba's Enhanced NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) Solution*: A new software solution designed to add an additional firewall between the CT scanner and the hospital or organizational network for added protection.
Enhanced XYZ Modulation*: Designed to reduce overall dose up to 40 percent and improve patient care.
Enhanced ECG Modulation: The first adaptable dose modulation software for cardiac CT available to the marketplace, ECG modulation is designed to reduce dose by up to 50 percent for improved patient care.
Toshiba's SURE technologies provide advanced applications and automation to improve upon the most important CT functionalities and techniques used in today's clinical settings. Each application was developed to ensure optimal performance and accuracy for various CT imaging studies.
