Canon Medical announces release of highly versatile Digital X-ray RF System "Zexira i9" with high image quality and low dose, designed to enhance clinical efficiency and patient care

Canon Medical Systems (Headquarters: Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture; President: Toshio Takiguchi) has launched the Zexira i9 digital X-ray RF system, a multi-purpose fluoroscopic table equipped with many new functions along with a compact design.

In recent years, X-ray RF systems have been used for various diagnostic procedures and treatments that require fluoroscopy, such as barium examinations in gastroenterology, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), which involves contrast imaging of the bile and pancreatic ducts using an endoscope, as well as procedures and examinations in urology, orthopedics, and anesthesiology. There is a growing demand for devices that can provide high-quality images with low radiation exposure and can be used for multiple purposes.

Zexira i9 is a new digital X-ray RF system equipped with essential features to meet the clinical demands above . Equipped with Canon's flat panel detector (FPD) and a newly developed image processing technology, the system hase been developed in consultation with medical staff, referring physicians and engineers.

In particular, Zexira i9 now allows staff to move the field of view to the area you want to see during fluoroscopy without moving the table or X-ray tube - even while intubating the endoscope during ERCP examinations.

Zexira i9 is also equipped with a tomosynthesis function*, which enables digital tomography with slice information in the depth direction in addition to two-dimensional diagnostic information. Tomographic information can be obtained during the fluoroscopy procedure without the need to move to a CT scan.

New functions also include optional DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) and the system is suitable for a wide range of fluoroscopic examinations. Zexira i9 creates long images by automatically stitching images consecutively acquired while the X-ray tube moves*. Bucky stands and wireless portable FPDs are available to support a wide range of general radiography examinations.

Note: Zexira i9 Is not commercially available in all markets, and future availability cannot be guaranteed until local regulatory approvals are gained.

* Tomosynthesis and stitching radiography are optional features.
