In addition, Canon Medical Systems actively promotes health management based on our ‘Health First’ guidelines, because we have a strong conviction that: ‘A healthy body and a healthy mind are essential to do a good job’.

Canon Medical Systems has established a Central Safety and Health Committee, which formulates central safety and health activity policies and plans, and promotes initiatives that can help prevent industrial accidents, maintain and promote personal health, support traffic safety, fire prevention, and disaster prevention, and create a comfortable workplace. In addition, our labor department and management collaborate to develop and maintain a workplace environment where everyone can function with peace of mind, for example, by incorporating health and safety provisions into employment contracts. Canon Medical Systems Corporation and its domestic group companies have established a safety and health committee at each of their sites. Internationally, we are promoting group-wide initiatives centered on our production bases, which take into account the specific circumstances of each region and company.

Prevention of Workplace Accidents

Safety Training

To raise awareness and prevent occupational accidents, Canon Medical Systems offers e-learning training to all employees.
Additionally, Canon Medical Systems’ Headquarters in Nasu offers multiple life-saving first-aid training sessions annually.

At Canon Medical Systems Hong Kong Ltd., all engineers are required to attend a basic safety training course (known as the "green card”) provided by the Occupational Health and Safety Management Institute (OSHIM). This green card is valid for three years. After it expires, the engineers must attend training again. With this card, engineers are permitted to enter the construction site.

Canon Medical Systems Argentina S.A. provides regular training to prevent workplace accidents and promote employee well-being. Once a year, employees receive safety and hygiene training conducted by an external expert specialized in occupational health. Additionally, the company provides annual "Ethics for Engineers" training and sessions on health and workplace insurance, delivered by a certified external expert.

In the event of a work-related accident, we investigate the root cause and implement measures to prevent recurrence through both education and equipment upgrades. Information about any accidents is promptly shared with affiliated companies to avoid similar accidents from occurring again.

Healthy Minds

We are developing programs for our staff that combine four types of care—self-care, care provided by managers, care provided by industrial health staff, and care provided by external organizations—with mental well-being. We are also developing support mechanisms, including return-to-work programs, and training to improve the skills of human resources and health support personnel in areas such as mental health.

Canon Medical Systems' stress check participation rate has maintained a high level, reaching 97% in 2024. For individuals with high levels of stress, we offer personalized support, including health consultations and interviews with industrial physicians. Additionally, we distribute a ‘health report’ that shows the health status of each division based on group analysis, and we hold meetings with individual staff members in their workplaces. We are also focused on providing mental health training for managers, enabling them to offer additional support to their teams within the workplace.
We conduct stress checks and follow-up for Japanese employees assigned overseas, just as we do in Japan, and work with local human resources personnel to implement mental health measures.

Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. implements the following measures to address the mental health of its employees.

1) Prevention methods:
Mental health support is provided through Lyra, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider. Lyra offers online resources, coaching, and therapy sessions. Webinars are held twice a year on mental health topics.

2) Dealing with people with mental health issues:
EPA providers offer specific resources to help managers identify potential mental health issues and direct employees to the appropriate resources, such as Lyra or HR business partners. Targeted emails are sent to managers, reminding them of these resources, and also provide recorded webinars that explain the details of available support.

3) Return to work after mental health problems:
Return to work after mental health-related leave is discussed individually with the legal and HR business partners and managers.

Canon Medical Systems ANZ Pty Ltd. is engaged in various initiatives to support the mental and physical health of its employees.
We currently have two trained Mental Health First Aiders on staff, ready to provide the necessary support. Counseling support and a well-being platform are also provided under its Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for all employees in the Australia and New Zealand region. This service is offered as standard to all employees, both new and existing.

Its EAP provider, TELUS Health, is a comprehensive well-being solution designed to help employees improve their mental and physical health and productivity at work, school, and home. TELUS Health provides 24/7 confidential support through employees’ journey to better well-being via mobile apps or the web.
Additionally, we have an injury management and rehabilitation provider to assist with physical and psychological rehabilitation in the event of an employee injury or illness.

Measures Against Lifestyle-Related Diseases

Canon Medical Systems conducts interviews based on a medical questionnaire that employees are required to complete before undergoing health checkups.
Health checkups are conducted annually for all employees of Canon Medical Systems and its group companies in Japan, and individual follow-ups are performed based on unified numerical and action standards as a thorough preventive measure against serious illnesses.
Canon Medical Systems and its affiliated companies in Japan have implemented a no-smoking policy on their premises and continue to implement measures such as smoking cessation seminars and online programs.
In addition, the company enforces restrictions on overtime, late-night work, and business trips based on an individual's medical history and conditions, including blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and ECG results.
