Speaker: Prof. Martine Rémy - JARDIN MD, PhD
Chest Radiologist
Former Head of Department of chest imaging, Lille University Hospital Center, France.
Currently supervising clinical activities in the IMALLIANCE Hauts-de-France Radiology Group (dedicated to chest CT examinations) and clinical research activities in photon-counting CT (collaboration with Prof. Prokop) Radboud University Medical Center; Nijmegen (Netherlands)
Dr. Rémy-Jardin’s main fields of clinical interest include pulmonary vascular diseases, diffuse infiltrative lung diseases, cardiac and pulmonary functional imaging, and reduction in radiation dose. She has been implicated in all successive CT technological advances since the late 1990s, with a current main focus on photon-counting CT, which she introduced in clinical routine in 2021 and investigated over three years. These clinical implications have regularly been topics of scientific publications, with over 250 PubMed referenced publications, including over 250 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and several book chapters.
Presentation Title: Current Clinical Experiences and Prospectives with CZT-based Photon Counting Detector CT
Abstract: After a decade of preclinical evaluation, photon-counting-detector CT (PCD-CT) has started a new phase of evaluation in the conditions of routine clinical practice. From preliminary investigations, it appears that PCD-CT fulfills the expectations in terms of improved resolution and dose reduction while providing full spectral availability. In this presentation, our objective is to highlight the results of prime-time investigations with CZTbased Photon Counting Detector CT in the two main fields of application, namely ultra-high resolution and CT angiography, and to present forthcoming innovations in chest CT indications. In parallel to the evolution of this technology, the medical community will become familiar with the scanning modes and reconstruction options while data storage and work-flow issues will also be integrated for daily use.
Learning objectives:
- This session will summarize current results in image quality and radiation dose reduction.
- The perspectives in terms of impact of this technology in clinical management will be covered.
