Toshiba's Innovative MR Applications Improve Diagnostic Accuracy and Patient Safety

Vantage Titan Expands the Clinical Capabilities of MRI

CHICAGO, Dec. 3, 2013 - Clinicians can utilize MRI to diagnose more conditions with Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.'s advanced applications for Vantage Titan™ MR systems. Toshiba expands MR's ability to visualize neurological conditions without contrast using Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) Dynamics imaging and 3D Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) and furthers innovations in MR with the Research Sequence Development Environment (RSDE).

  • CSF Dynamics Imaging: CSF bulk movement can be visualized non-invasively for the first time using Toshiba's proprietary Time-Spatial Labeling Inversion Pulse (Time-SLIP) non-contrast technique. This technique provides a safer and faster way to get diagnostic information as CSF movement disorders normally require invasive procedures.
  • 3D ASL: Blood flow and perfusion characteristics of the entire brain can be studied without contrast and with a single scan.
  • RSDE: A research-only tool that allows the research community to develop its own pulse sequences to explore new applications of MR imaging.

"Toshiba's MR technologies allow for the understanding of neurological disorders in new ways that directly impact patient care," said Beverly Plost, director, MR Business Unit, Toshiba. "Our systems put customers first and provide safe and patient-friendly exams that allow clinicians to make efficient and accurate diagnoses."

These advanced applications are available on Toshiba's Vantage Titan 1.5T and 3T systems and will be showcased at this year's Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Dec. 1-6, 2013 (Booth #7330, North Hall, B).
