New Clinical Applications Increase Patient Throughput and Diagnostic Accuracy
CHICAGO, Nov. 27 , 2007 - Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., a leader in diagnostic and medical imaging, today announced it will be showcasing new 4-D volume imaging applications for Toshiba's Aplio™ and Xario™ ultrasound systems. The 4D applications and the latest system - the Xario XG - will be available for viewing at Radiological Society of North America's (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, November 25 - 30 at Toshiba's booth, number 7130.
"Toshiba's new 4D applications will enable physicians to better perform transvaginal/OB, small parts and abdomen imaging procedures, resulting in less variation in the acquired images, the ability to analyze data after patient discharge, improved productivity and ultimately better diagnosis," said Gordon Parhar, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. "Toshiba's new transducers, which are the smallest probes available on the market, will help physicians image small patients, including infants and children."
In addition, Toshiba's 4D volume imaging data can be easily stored on or off the cart, allowing continued access to patient data to monitor progress.
"Toshiba's new 4D transducers give physicians the ability to review a volumetric image of a patient after they have left the scan room, providing more time for diagnosis and thorough analysis," said Dr. Sara O'Hara, professor of Radiology and director of Ultrasound at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. "This also is beneficial for patients who need to be monitored because we are now able to compare volume data instead of relying on old notes."

Additionally, Toshiba will be showcasing the new Xario XG ultrasound system at RSNA. The applications for the Aplio will be transferred to the Xario XG, including the new 4D transducers. The Xario XG will feature a 19-inch monitor and comes standard with a bundled software package consisting of:
