Announcement of the Establishment of Canon Medical’s New Subsidiary in Argentina
Ohtawara, Nov. 20, 2018 － Canon Medical Systems Corporation (CMSC; Headquarters: Ohtawara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan; President: Toshio Takiguchi) and Ichiban S.A. de Inversión (Ichiban S.A.; Headquarters: Buenos Aires, Argentina; President: Manuel Gestoso) reached an agreement on the conditions for transferring the assets related to the distributor business of GRIENSU S.A. (Headquarters: Buenos Aires, Argentina; CEO: Angel Machado) to Canon Medical Systems Argentina S.A. (CMSAR) on August 7, 2018 (local time). CMSAR is a joint venture company established by CMSC and Ichiban S.A. GRIENSU S.A. previously served as CMSC's distributor in Argentina as a subsidiary of Ichiban S.A.
We are making preparations to start business operations at CMSAR around the beginning of January 2019 after acquisition of an official license.
GRIENSU S.A. entered a distributor agreement with CMSC in 1965 thanks to Mr. Manuel Gestoso, and has been involved in sales and service activities as CMSC's distributor in Argentina for more than 50 years. The company handles the most advanced medical equipment and arranged for delivery of the first 320-row area-detector CT system, Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition, in the Central and South American region.
Being a successor of GRIENSU S.A.’s CMSC business, as an overseas subsidiary, we will continue to offer Japan's most advanced healthcare systems to the Argentine market. Our goal is to promote the early diagnosis, early detection, and early treatment of diseases and thus contribute to healthcare in Argentina. In addition, we plan to expand sales in the South American region with Argentina as our base by conducting direct business operations in order to establish a firm business foundation and further promote the globalization of CMSC.
We will continue our efforts to contribute to the further development of healthcare and to help people everywhere enjoy a healthy life.
