Canon Medical to showcase latest Ultra-High Resolution MRI research system at the ISMRM-ESMRMB Joint Annual Meeting

• Industry-leading 3T MRI performance allows for more accurate tissue diagnosis at early disease stages

• Visitors to Canon Medical’s booth can learn more about user experience from two pilot site institutions

Otawara, Japan; June 16, 2018- Canon Medical Systems Corporation (Canon Medical) announces the showcasing of a new Ultra-High Resolution research-enabled 3T MRI System*, representing the latest addition to its Magnetic Resonance Imaging portfolio, at the ISMRM-ESMRMB 2018 Joint Annual Meeting in Paris, France. With an industry-leading highest peak gradient amplitude specification of 100 mT/m at 200 T/m/s and the ability to reach maximum slew rate simultaneously, the system provides the highest whole-body MRI performance in the market. In addition, the combination of scalable hardware specifications and AI-based Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR) technology, the system enables the acquisition of ultra-high resolution MR images allowing leading researchers to more accurately characterize morphologic and functional tissue integrity at the early stages of disease. Early adopters of the system have been impressed by the advanced diffusion models in neuro applications, one of the fastest growing research areas utilizing MRI.

Professor Vincent Dousset, Institut de Bio-Imagerie Université de Bordeaux, Chef de Service Neuro-Imagerie CHU de Bordeaux, commented: “The Ultra-High Resolution MR images acquired using the latest high-performance research 3T MRI system from Canon Medical (installed last November) in combination with DLR are comparable to images acquired using a 7T MRI system. We are proud to be part of this collaborative partnership with Canon Medical utilizing these cutting-edge research technologies.”

Delegates wishing to learn more about the new research 3T MRI system from Canon Medical, including the latest images and user experience from Université de Bordeaux, France, as well as from Kumamoto University, Japan, are encouraged to visit the Canon Medical booth (#323) during the ISMRM-ESMRMB Joint Annual Meeting in Paris from June 16-21, 2018.

*The Ultra-High Resolution MRI research system is not commercially available outside of Japan; future availability cannot be guaranteed in other regions.
*Deep Learning Reconstruction (DLR) is currently under development and is not commercially available; future availability cannot be guaranteed.
