Mobile X-ray system Mobirex i9 / Smart Edition

On November 28, 2025 , Canon Medical Systems Corporation (Headquarters: Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan; President: Toshio Takiguchi) started sales of Mobirex i9 / Smart Edition, a high-end mobile X-ray system with enhanced radiography support functions.

A mobile X-ray system is designed to be transported to patient wards, operating rooms, or emergency departments to perform on-the-spot radiography. Because the system is brought directly to the patient’s bedside for rapid imaging and diagnosis, high mobility and ease of operation are essential requirements.
Mobirex i9 series is a compact, easy-to-use mobile X-ray system equipped with Canon's CXDI series digital radiography detector , which is widely used in healthcare facilities ranging from large hospitals to clinics. CXDI-Elite's Built-in AEC Assistance (BiAA)*1 can optimize X-ray exposure time for each patient.
Mobirex i9 / Smart Edition, the latest addition to the lineup, is equipped with a monitor on the tube head in addition to the conventional main monitor to meet the need for more efficient radiography workflow. This enables the operator to efficiently review patient information and adjust radiographic conditions , supporting mobile imaging at the bedside. The addition of the Camera Application*2 allows displays the Source-to-Image Distance (SID) and X-ray angle of incidence, while Laser Navigation,*2, *3 linked to the laser marker,*2 enhances positioning accuracy. These advanced imaging support functions create an environment that allows the operator to focus more fully on patient care.

[Main features of the new system]
1. Second monitor to improve examination workflow

In conventional radiography, checking patient data and adjusting imaging conditions on the main monitor forces the operator to move back and forth between the bedside and the monitor. With Mobirex i9 / Smart Edition, a second monitor mounted on the tube head (Secondary Workspace), places all positioning information and operations (or controls) right at the operator’s fingertips.. After radiography, the acquired images can also be viewed on the second monitor, allowing a quick decision on whether a retake is needed. By reducing unnecessary movement and simplifying access to key functions, the system streamlines operator workflow and enhances overall examination efficiency.

2. Camera Application and Laser Navigation support more accurate radiography
By adding a 3D camera*2 to the tube head, it is possible to display the Source-to-Image Distance (SID) and X-ray angle of incidence on the second monitor along with live images (Camera Application). In addition, when equipped with the Laser Marker option, the laser marker can be turned on at each of roll and pitch angle when the proper X-rays incidence relative to the patient’s body is achieved (Laser Navigation). Combined with the operator’s visual confirmation, this feature supports accurate positioning and helps reduce the number of retakes.

3. Dose optimization with AEC function
Because AEC is difficult to use in mobile X-ray examinations, operators typically set exposure time manually. With CXDI-Elite's BiAA technology, mobile X-ray examinations can be performed stably at optimal X-ray exposure time for each patient, providing safe and reliable mobile X-ray examinations.

The system will be on display at Canon’s booth at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago, USA (McCormick Place, North Hall, booth #6713 & 7313), from November 30 to December 03, 2025.
