Canon Medical Systems (Headquarters: Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture; President: Toshio Takiguchi) has launched the Radrex i5 / Flex Edition, a compact X-ray system for general radiography equipped with a variety of new functions.
General radiography systems are one of the most common types of diagnostic imaging equipment for medical facilities. They are useful for examinations of the chest, abdomen, and bones, and are widely used in outpatient and emergency wards as the first choice for diagnostic imaging tests. In general radiography, speed and accuracy are critical, with high-quality images enabling an efficient diagnostic process.
Radrex i5 / Flex Edition meets these challenges with a range of solutions that provide high-quality X-ray images in a patient-friendly examination environment. It delivers the ultimate focus on patient care, with advanced dose control for all techniques and AI-driven assistance to support safe examinations.
The Radrex i5 / Flex Edition features completely new design and operability for each of the components that make up the system, with the aim of delivering a general radiography environment that is friendly both to patients and operators. Mobility in the longitudinal and lateral directions has been enhanced, with a 66% weight reduction compared to the previous model.*1
In addition, the patient's condition can be conveniently checked on a monitor in the operation room immediately prior to imaging. The system determines in real time the consistency of the actual positioning with body part, view position, and selected protocol, displaying the results on the monitor. As a result, the system supports safer and more secure general radiography procedures.
With the Radrex i5 / Flex Edition, users can enjoy a new level of functionality and versatility that delivers ease-of-use for streamlining workflow at every stage of the diagnostic journey.
Further, to improve workflow in the general radiography room, the system enhances integration with Canon’s Digital Radiography (DR), using Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE),*2 *3 a noise reduction process for Canon DR developed using AI, Built-in AEC Assistance (BiAA),*4 which enables control of X-ray imaging time regardless of the imaging scene or site, and Camera Assist,*4 an optical camera application boosted by AI,*4 which provides high-quality images by assisting operators who are concentrating on patient care. These solutions will contribute to the provision of high-quality images and procedural safety by assisting operators who are focused on patient care.
Note: Radrex i5 / Flex Edition is not commercially available in all markets. Future availability cannot be guaranteed prior to local regulatory approval.
