Toshiba Medical and University of Bordeaux Start a Collaborative Research and Development MRI Partnership

Otawara, Tochigi, Nov. 22, 2017 - Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation (President: Toshio Takiguchi; Headquarters: Otawara, Tochigi, Japan) and the University of Bordeaux (President: Manuel Tunon de Lara, Location: Bordeaux, France) entered an agreement to conduct a collaborative research and development MRI partnership. Installation of the Vantage Galan™ 3-Tesla system, incorporating high resolution image technologies that are currently under development, was completed on November 21st.

Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation (President: Toshio Takiguchi; Headquarters: Otawara, Tochigi, Japan) and the University of Bordeaux (President: Manuel Tunon de Lara, Location: Bordeaux, France) entered an agreement to conduct a collaborative research and development MRI partnership. Installation of the Vantage Galan? 3-Tesla system, incorporating high resolution image technologies that are currently under development, was completed on November 21st.

In the present collaborative research, Vincent Dousset MD, PhD, Vice-President for International Affairs International Office, and Thomas Tourdias MD, PhD, Neuro Imaging Department, Bordeaux Hospital University Center, will play an important role in evaluating the latest software for various body regions, first focusing on Neuro imaging, while conducting clinical studies for cutting-edge applications. The University of Bordeaux, Toshiba Medical, and a Toshiba Medical group company dealing with advanced MRI post-processing solutions, Olea Medical, (CEO: Faycal Djeridane; Headquarters: LaCiotat, France) will conduct additional collaborations in order to accelerate research and development of next-generation post-processing technologies.

Regarding the recent installation of the new 3-Tesla system, Prof. Vincent Dousset, commented: “I am delighted to announce that the partnership between the Universite de Bordeaux, Toshiba Medical and Olea Medical has culminated in the recent installation of a new 3-Tesla system. This collaboration will provide a research platform of the highest level and this alliance will result in improvements in health, education, and further our research activity.” Prof. Thomas Tourdias added: “Prof. Dousset and I are thrilled by the advanced capabilities demonstrated by Toshiba Medical’s MRI system. The images we witnessed were some of the best I have seen. Congratulations to the entire Toshiba Medical team for such progress in image quality, scanning time and functionalities”.
